This recall was initiated after healthcare professionals noticed a change in the taste of certain products with MCPs, which were intended to provide them with the necessary nutrients. These products included the following flavors: Lemon, Grapefruit, Cherry, and Orange. On September 30, 2022, the FDA received reports of gastrointestinal issues associated with these products. However, healthcare professionals reported their findings on October 12, and that same day, the United States Pharmacopeia issued a voluntary advisory recommending the withdrawal of all products containing Magnesium Citrate Recall. What Can You Need to Know About This Recall?
The recalled lemon, grape, cherry, rose, orange, banana, peach, pomegranate, guava, and papaya magenta products were made using Magnesium Citrate. They were distributed to hospitals, clinics, medical offices, pharmacies, grocery stores, convenience stores, health food stores, and mass merchandisers. Some of these items had expiration dates and could spoil if exposed to moisture or air without refrigeration. If left out for an extended period, these products could cause the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, fainting, blood in stools, and other adverse effects. Due to the high potential for contamination, people should avoid eating or drinking the products if they have it’s experienced any of the above symptoms or have been diagnosed with a severe immune deficiency disorder.
The remedy the company is recalling includes three different types of potassium citrate. The first type, K2C1, is used in preparing water for making up solutions used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. This solution contains 0.6% Sodium Citrate and 10% potassium carbonate, while the second type, K2C2, is used in preparing sodium hydroxide. Both solutions contain 2.5% Sodium Citrate and 8.5% potassium carbonate. There is no indication that the K2C2 product is being recalled. The third potassium Magnesium Citrate Recall product is available under two brands: Sweetwater and Sweeten Water. SweetWater is sold under three brands: Diamond Fresh, Organic, and Green Hydrogen. Because the sweetwater solution has a higher concentration. Calcium carbonate requires heating before use so that it does not become acidic. All products were packed in one plastic bag and stored in boxes labeled “Grapefruit Juice,” “Lemonade,” “Lemon Juice,” and “Banana.”

On October 14, 2021, users in California’s San Francisco area began reporting gastrointestinal discomfort reports.
